A real privilege to have been able to give evidence in Parliament to the Education Select Committee yesterday for their inquiry on #EdTech and #AI.
It is fundamentally important that before we talk about #AI literacy, we get #literacy right – for all young people, regardless of background.
We are all large language models, and unless we invest in oracy and strong early language acquisition, we cannot expect to then be able to develop critical thinking or be able to make good judgements about the outputs of AI!
So let’s start with investment in PEOPLE. Build your data centres once you’ve rebuilt schools and fully funded libraries and early years reading ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏿
