thanks for the thoughts, kester. i just finished some work on žižek and the contemporary church for your friend barry taylor. i’ve concluded that – even as an atheist/materialist (or perhaps because) – he has some really great insights regard what bring the church is about.

A “set-theoretical community without a name or identity”. Speculating on the possibility is utterly fascinating. It’s the notion of borderless entities again.

This post, together with your recent series on science and faith, underscores my excitement about attempting to live faithfully today. These attempts to find a “third way”, leaving behind the harsh dichotomies of either/or, are thrilling experiments. I love raising kids who can be both friendly towards and skeptical of scientists, theologians, and philosophers. I’m inspired by the place of hopefulness that this creates–a place where the “Holy Ghost community” actually gets to discern–and enjoy–Good News!
