Apple’s Genius? I don’t think so…

…simply because every time I put it on it circles inexorably towards The Shining by Badly Drawn Boy.
WHY?! Perhaps because every other damn person out there loves it. I don’t. I want an ‘I hate this’ button on my iPod.
This appears to be a fault of here-comes-everybody systems, ie democracies: they tend to the middle. To the boring.
New algorithm please Mr Jobs ;-)

    I found that Genius only works with a narrow selection of music, you have to choose something obscure enough that not everybody has it but also not so obscure that there is not enough data

    was just thinking the other day how a count of how many times you bothered to skip a track would be more meaningful than the number of times you let it play.
